Mail-In Ambulatory ECG Monitoring Service "e-skin ECG" Is Introduced at the Keio University Center for Preventive Medicine

TOKYO (October 31, 2023) – Xenoma's mail-in monitoring service "e-skin ECG" will be available to the public at the Keio University Center for Preventive Medicine after its relocation to Azabudai Hills in November 2023. This service was developed based on the joint research between the Keio University Hospital and Xenoma.

Ambulatory ECG monitoring is a commonly used test to detect arrhythmia, ischemia and other circulatory abnormalities. While it's widely used for medical examination, it has not been commonly used in medical checkups because it required two consecutive days of visits to a hospital for putting on and taking off the equipment. Keio University Hospital and Xenoma have jointly developed an ambulatory ECG measurement system1) that allows examinees to put on and take off the device themselves without the help of a medical professional. This system enabled a 3-lead (3 ECG waveforms) mail-in examination service. By using this e-skin ECG service, examinees can now take ambulatory ECG exams without any inconvenience, even during medical checkups where they visit the hospital only once.

The importance of ECG testing is significantly increasing to promote the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, for which annual medical cost exceeds 6 trillion yen and accounts for 20% of Japan's total medical expenditure. Cabinet Office also approved the Second Basic Plan for the Promotion of Cardiovascular Disease Countermeasures in March 2023.

Xenoma's e-skin ECG can acquire 3-lead ECG data, which is highly valuable for preventive medicine that enables early detection and prediction of diseases. Keio University Center for Preventive Medicine and Xenoma will continuously improve the e-skin ECG to provide more valuable feedback to examinees.

*1) This system is one of the results of the Cross-ministerial Strategic Innovation Promotion Program "Innovative AI Hospital System" in which Keio University Hospital participated.
