Tokyo, Japan, July 15, 2020 - The developer of the smart apparel brand ‘e-skin’ Xenoma Inc. (HQ: Tokyo, Japan, short: Xenoma) announced today the decision to launch a clinical trial of countermeasures against COVID-19 infections. They donated medical protective clothing produced in Japan to an elderly care home in Tokyo which was recently hit by the virus.

First of all, Xenoma would like to express their heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the COVID-19 infection, both in Japan and abroad.

With the number of new cases of the COVID-19 exceeding 100 every day in Tokyo, concern about the re-emergence of the virus is growing. Elderly care facilities nationwide still experience a shortage of masks, protective clothing, and other hygiene products. One reason is the continuously rising price of protective clothing sold online.

The protective clothing donated this time is a disposable medical product produced domestically that meets the requirements for personal protective equipment recommended by both, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
Amidst economic uncertainty caused by the corona crisis, Xenoma utilizes their expertise in apparel manufacturing to cooperate with domestic film factories and sewing plants to produce medical protective clothing made in Japan.Elderly care requires activities that involve close body contact such as support while eating, bathing, and going to the toilette. Disposable protective clothing is not only necessary in medical settings where the risk of infection is high, but also around the elderly who are more prone to serious illness.

Xenoma will continue their development and production of domestic protective clothing, as well as other hygiene products and nursing care systems, to further support corona countermeasure activities.
